Your Presence is a Super Power
When I hear people ask or protest about ‘That’s not authentically me!” what I hear instead is “That’s not how I usually act. This is weird. It’s unfamiliar and uncomfortable for me.”
At least this is what I know that reaction means now - after 12 years of coaching, training, facilitating. Of helping business leaders step out of their box. Of helping star employees become rock star employees.
Well, guess what, trying something NEW is weird, uncomfortable and unfamiliar. When you first started walking you SUCKED at it. You fell, all the time. When you learned to ride a bike you wobbled and wiggled and probably got more than a few skinned knees. Same thing with that skate board. When I learned to swim, something I know love and brings me great enjoyment, I probably thought I was drowning the first few times.
The exercises that grow you will make you uncomfortable. Because growth is uncomfortable. Challenging your status quo – your own internal set of habits, routines and beliefs is hard and brave work.
You are doing it because you feel there is something greater in you. Or you keeping running into a brick wall. The same problems. You’re getting the same feedback from your boss. Feed back like Do better. Be more. We need you to speak up, speak slower, be more engaging, be more responsive. Close more deals. Be more confident, Act like a leader.
This is that process.
And it is a process.
It is not a quick fix.
But these combination of materials, awareness, practices and technique will help you on your way. They will not be the only resources you require. There will be other learnings. You will do this for a little bit, and then walk away for a while and focus on something else. And then come back to it. Continuous improvement. Frequent Reflection. Lean into it.
It’s fun. It’s an Adventure. It’s your Future. Choose yours!
