Public Speaking, Presence and Power
In my decade of Coaching, Research and Training I have landed on these 4 Facets as a way to structure and guide my work with clients.
Mental: What is the objective of your message? Is your content clear and concise?
Emotional: How does your content impact you and your audience? Why does it matter?
Physical: Is your body supporting your message or is it undermining it? In what way can we use your body for more power and greater presence?
Vocal: Can your audience hear you? Is your voice strong, vital and resonant?
This holistic approach, grounded in performance technique and supported by research, gives you the tools not just to give a great speech, but to be a great Speaker!
Perhaps you are working to overcome a fear of Public Speaking. Perhaps you recently took a promotion and want to work on your Presence. Perhaps you have an upcoming opportunity that you want to make the most of - be it a TedTalk, a Board Presentation or an Investor Pitch.
My work with clients is custom. After an initial session to discover your objectives, needs and timeline, we will begin where we need to begin. Coaching relationships generally last between 5 and 12 weeks depending on the work that needs to be done. Sessions last about an hour and can be virtual or in-person.
Command the Space
Public Speaking is a physical process. Your body and the way you occupy space is a vital element of great public speaking. Whether you are sitting, standing, virtual or in person fully inhabiting your body and the space around you is key.
How do you do that?
In our work together we will take a look at your physical behaviors and habits. We will look at your strengths as well as the areas you need to grow.
Pulling exercises and activities of Theatre, Improv and other movement modalities you will explore your power and your range.
Influence your Audience
Are you paying attention to needs of your Audience? Are you emotionally connected to them and your content? Are you delivering with confidence and conviction?
Emotion is a powerful factor in great speaking and compelling content. It’s not just what you say but how you say it that matters.
In phase 2, we will work to connect you to your message. Through visualization, imagination, and conversation we will work together to find the threads that will weave together the message you need to deliver.
Whether you are an Entrepreneur looking for investment, a Team Lead looking to inspire and motivate your team or a Fortune 500 CEO steering your company forward, your ability to connect to you audience is crucial to the success of your message.
Craft Your Content
The final phase of our work is Content.
We’ll cover the techniques and practices of creating strong and dynamic content.
From structure to story, metaphor to mechanics, we can tease out your story, include the data, put it into context and create a message that
This is so much more than - Tell ‘em what you're going to tell ‘em, tell ‘em and then tell ‘em what you told ‘em. That’s a good basic structure. But we’re going beyond basics here.
We’re going into rhetoric, linguistics and the elegant use of language to write something memorable and actionable.
